I'm Joining The Mercedes-Benz Master Guild!

I am pleased to announce that I have been chosen to receive Master Guild Recognition this year! There are four levels of achievement with Mercedes-Benz -- Certified, Star Certified, Master Certified and finally, Master Guild. The first three levels are based on time with the company, keeping up with certification requirements and attending training classes. Master Guild members must already be Master Certified and then are chosen by the Regional Managers. Only 160 employees from the whole US market are picked for this recognition each year!

This also means I will be traveling to Germany!

"In recognition of this achievement, these individuals will be invited to participate in an all expense paid, once in a lifetime trip to Germany, an extraordinary opportunity through which they will experience the heritage and passion behind the Mercedes-Benz brand. Participants will visit various Mercedes-Benz facilities in Stuttgart, the birthplace of Mercedes-Benz, as well as be immersed in the local culture, history and traditions."

It looks I'll be making the trip in October but I'll post more details when it's finalized.

Is Ron Dennis Out?

Rumors hit the net this morning that the team principal of McLaren Mercedes Formula One team, Ron Dennis, has been fired. The teams reasoning for this seems to surround Stepneygate and his handling of the team tensions between Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. For me the huge role he played in bringing Lewis Hamilton up through the ranks to become one of the greatest rookie drivers in F1 history out weighs all of those issues.

Ralf Schumacher to Race for Mercedes DTM!

It was announced yesterday that Ralf Schumacher will be racing for Mercedes this year in our DTM car! As an avid Formula 1 fan, I have watched Ralf race for years in the shadow of his brother, 7-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher, and I am excited to see what he can do in the DTM series! His first race is April 13th at the season opener in Hockenheim. The Schumacher name is always good to have on board and he is certainly an experienced driver. We don't get much coverage of the series here but I can keep up online.

2008 C-Class - MotorWeek - Best Luxury Sedan

MotorWeek has named the 2008 C-Class as their Driver's Choice Awards - Best Luxury Sedan.

From the MotorWeek website -
"The C-Class tops our list of high-end sedans that offers a true Continental driving experience, yet one that doesn't forget value. The latest version of Mercedes best selling series is clad in more aggressive sheet metal that reflects its improved performance. But it is C-Class precision, amenities and exceptional quality that drive it to the top of a very high-class heap."

AMG Awareness Campaign

Mercedes has recently announced that they will be launching a campaign to raise awareness of the AMG brand in the United States. I thought I would do my part...

For those of you unfamiliar with AMG, named for it's founders Aufrecht and Melcher and the city of Grossaspach where it was founded, it is the performance tuning division of Mercedes-Benz. AMG vehicles are tuned for performance, styled aggressively and priced accordingly. You can visit the official AMG site and learn about all of the AMG models and the history of the company.

If you are looking for a sports car that is also a top of the line luxury car then AMG is the way to go!

2009 SL Restyle - Wow!

Mercedes has officially released photos and details on the restyled 2009 SL-Class. The most noticeable styling change is obviously the new headlights. These bring the SL's facial features in line with the trend that first started on the CLS. Beyond the headlights many of the SL's body surfaces have been given more aggressive styling. Interior upgrades include the addition of the AIRSCARF headrest heating system that has been available on the SLK for a couple years. It appears that the available engines will remain the same with a few tweaks to improve fuel economy.
The basic chassis and engine are expected to remain the same until a complete redesign for 2013 but all of the body panels and much of the technology will be upgraded for this 2009 model.
