2010 Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid

Mercedes plans to release the 2010 S400 BlueHYBRID for sale in the United States this fall. The vehicle will look almost identical to the S550 but should average about 30 miles per gallon and lower emissions substantially!

The S400 will use a "mild hybrid" system that allows the battery to provide a boost to the engine when running and also restart the engine when it shuts off at a stop. Mercedes is using is a Lithium Ion battery pack, which is lighter and more efficient than the usual nickel-metal-hydride battery other manufacturers are using. The German Automobile Association and Europe's largest car club, the ADAC, awarded its Yellow Angel award for the Innovation & Environment category for the use of this lithium ion battery technology. Fifth Gear recently reviewed a Smart Car that uses this shutting-off-at-a-stop system and said it was seamless. This system is demonstrated at 2:30 min in.

Sirius XM Plans to Raise Prices in March

The monthly subscription fee for Sirius has been $12.95 for years. Now that Sirius has us all addicted to commercial free music and all of the other entertainment channels, they need to raise the prices $2 per month to start turning a profit! It makes sense to me. To avoid those increased charges you can call Sirius at 1-888-539-7474 before March 11th and pre-pay for a length of time at the current rates.

If you have a lease, pre-pay though the end of the lease. They have lots of packages available. In general, the longer term you sign up for, the cheaper it gets per month. And, if you cancel the subscription early Sirius will apply the unused portion to your next subscription. When you purchase a new Mercedes it's also a good plan to purchase and extended pre-paid plan at the time you take delivery so that they can apply your 6 months base service as a credit toward you pre-paid plan. If you plan to keep the car for many years the best value may be the Lifetime Subscription. It's $399 and will stay with the vehicle forever!

VodaFone McLaren Mercedes 2009 Launch

2008 was a great season for our Formula One team. Our top driver, Lewis Hamilton, won his first drivers championship and the team made a great comeback from the controversy of the 2007 season.

The changes to the rules for the 2009 season are the most significant in several years and as a result the cars will look quite a bit different. The largest change can be seen in the updated rear wing that appears to be about half the size of last years. The new rules limiting the aerodynamics of the cars have added an interesting new feature in that driver adjustable front wing flaps will be legal for 2009. While this brings F1 cars one step closer to the airplanes they share so much technology with, it will also provide one more area for an amazing driver like Lewis Hamilton to show off his skills.

2009 will also see the introduction of the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems) to Formula One. These systems will store the energy used slow the car and then allow it to be used later for increased acceleration. The KERS device on the new McLaren Mercedes will be able to provide a boost of 80hp for 6.7 seconds per lap. Depending on the circuit this will decrease lap times by 0.3 to 0.5 seconds.

It's only 67 days till the first race of the 2009 season in Melbourne, Australia. I can't wait!

Mercedes 2010 E-Class Features & Safety - Mercedes-Benz.tv

This is a great video that Mercedes just put out detailing many of the advanced features of the 2010 E-Class. According to the press release, the speed limit assist that they mention as being able to read speed limit signs uses the same wide-angle camera as the new lane departure alert(Lane Keeping Assist). This is an interesting new feature and we'll have wait to see if it can read signs here or only in Europe.

2010 E-Class Photos

The 2010 E-Class sedan is due to arrive in the US this summer. As always, Mercedes releases very little information until they release the vehicle. In the last few days a lot of pictures have been floating around the internet. Here are some of the best that I have seen. These are likely to be European specification cars and the US version may vary slightly. I'll keep you posted when I know anything for sure.

I have had the pleasure of working with several Arbonne Regional and National Vice Presidents in the last few years as they been promoted and earned their white Mercedes-Benz. 2010 GLK350 Released Today!

The 2010 GLK350 has officially been released to dealerships! We have 11 scheduled to arrive in the next few days in White, Black, Silver, Steel Gray, Red, Obsidian Black and Sand Beige. MSRPs range from $42,460 up to $49,875. The all have the Premium 1 package that includes Panoramic roof, Rain Sensor, Driver memory seat, Homelink, Auto-dimming mirrors, Sirius Radio, Power Liftgate, 115V AC power plug, and Compass in interior mirror.

We are also expected to get a lease special from Mercedes-Benz financial for under $500/month on the GLK! I do still have the White demonstrator GLK350 here for you to see and drive!

3G iPhone, iPod Touch & iPod Nano Incompatible / Unable to Charge Solution

I am not an iPod user so my knowledge of this subject is limited. However, I know that many of you are as passionate about your iPhone as you are about your Mercedes-Benz.

The new MultiMedia Interface cable in the 2009 vehicles has been a wonderful upgrade for interfacing with iPods and iPhones. It is very easy to access folders and artists right from the main command screen. A problem with the system has been that when you plug in your 3G iPhone it gives a message that it is incompatible and unable to charge. According the to Apple website this error will probably also happen with 4th generation iPod Nano and 2nd generation iPod Touch devices.
It would be handy to be able to charge these devices in the car while listening to music. It seems that this little adaptor (Scosche passPORT), available for about $25 at your local Apple store or online, will fix the problem. I haven't had a chance to try it but from what I have read it works well.
